Genymotion Desktop 3.7.0 is out!

New features

Dynamic root access

Genymotion Desktop historically provided rooted Android virtual devices.

Root access is the set of superuser rights used for security testing and tweaking Android internals.

This setup had drawbacks because many Android applications, including financial apps and games, would not install or run in such an unsecured environment.

To address this, the next virtual devices update will feature un-rooted Android versions by default.

This adjustment aligns with the security standards of most Android applications.

This adjustment ensures broader compatibility and a more typical user experience.

Root access remains available and can be enabled during virtual device deployment or at runtime.

> Note: At the time of writing, this feature is only available with Android 14 stable. > Plans are in place to back-port it to earlier versions progressively.
