This article targets Genymotion users across Desktop, SaaS (Cloud), and Device Image (PaaS) environments.
Overview
- Google Play Store and Google Play Services are not pre-installed on Genymotion virtual devices.
- You have to use Genymotion Open GApps install built-in feature to get them.
- Open GApps (OpenGApps) is Genymotion's built-in feature to install Google Play Services.
- Warning: Installing the Open GApps manually from opengapps.org is not supported and will likely fail or corrupt your device.
- Also, you will not find any packages for Android 12 and above on the official website.
- Please use Genymotion built-in feature instead, as described below.
Genymotion Desktop
- Click the Open GApps button in the right-side toolbar.
- Read the disclaimer carefully and click ACCEPT to start the installation.
- The OpenGApps package will be automatically downloaded.
- The OpenGApps package will be flashed.
- You then need to reboot the device to complete the installation.
- Click RESTART NOW or RESTART LATER, if you wish to reboot later.
- The device will reboot and a webpage to the Open GApps website will be opened.
- Google Play Store is now installed on the device.
- It can be found in Android's App Drawer.

- Note: The Open GApps widget is available with Genymotion Desktop free edition.
- You do not need to purchase a license to install and use Google Play Store.
Genymotion SaaS (Cloud)
- Access the virtual device display and open the INSTALL APPS widget in the right-side toolbar.
- Click INSTALL GAPPS in the widget window.
- Read the disclaimer carefully and click INSTALL GAPPS to accept and start the automatic installation.
- When flashing is complete, click RESTART DEVICE to reboot and complete the installation.
- Google PlayStore is now installed on the instance.
- It can be found in Android's App Drawer.

Genymotion Device Image (PaaS)
- In the instance UI, navigate to Device Content and, in the Packages section, click INSTALL next to the Open GApps package.
- A popup will appear, click INSTALL again to accept the disclaimer and proceed.
- The Open GAPPs package will automatically be deployed on the instance.
- When done, you will be prompted to reboot the device.
- Reboot the instance.
- Google Play Store is now installed on the device and can be found in Android's App Drawer.
