Data Backup

In this section, you will find all the available methods to backup your instance data.

The user data is stored in the /data partition.

With an External Data disk

External Data disk is a feature that allows exporting and importing your data partition.

The External Data disk method will not work with Android 5.1 (Lollipop) and Android 6.0 (Marshmallow).

The target instance must have the same Android version as the original instance.

If the Open Gapps have been installed on the original instance, the Open Gapps must be installed on the target instance before attaching the external drive.

With an image copy

This method will create an exact copy of the original instance (template), including the version of Genymotion emulator.

You can also create a backup image of your instance disk.

To do so, you can follow the same process as creating pre-configured images.
