Data Backup

In this section, you will find all the available methods to backup your instance data.

The user data is stored in the /data partition.

With an External Data disk

Genymotion minimal version is 10.0.0.

The External Data disk feature exports and imports the data partition.

The External Data disk method will not work with Android 5.1 (Lollipop) and Android 6.0 (Marshmallow).

The target instance must have the same Android version as the original instance.

If the Open Gapps have been installed on the original instance, they must be installed on the target instance too before attaching the external drive.

With an image copy

The image copy method will create an exact copy of the original instance (template), including the version of Genymotion emulator.

You can also create a backup image of your instance disk.

To do so, you can follow the same process as creating pre-configured images.
