Genymotion Desktop 3.4 is released!
Introduction
- Genymotion Desktop 3.4 is out and comes with tons of new features.
- Let us take a quick tour.
Apple Silicon support (M1/M2 chip) with Android native ARM
- Apple Silicon refers to Apple's ARM-based processors (M1/M2).
- Genymotion Desktop officially supports Apple Silicon after a two‑month beta period.
- For now, Android 11 is available on Apple Silicon; more Android versions will follow.
- The Android native ARM64 image makes the emulator compatible with all ARM64/armv8 native apps.
- This ARM64 compatibility also makes the emulator compatible with almost all applications from the Google Play store.
Skins
- Desktop 3.4 supports skins with a default pack: two regular phone skins and two gaming/streaming oriented tablet skins.
- Desktop 3.4 adds custom skins support; the user can create branded skins and use them in the emulator.
- The imagination is the limit for custom skins.
Advanced developer tools widget
- A new widget provides quick access to the most used Android Developer Options.
- More tools may be added in the future.
- The Genymotion team invites feedback about tools and features to see in this widget.
Multi-display support
- Android introduced the ability to connect external displays since Android 9.
- Genymotion Desktop added this feature to the emulator.
- You can add up to three extra displays depending on the Android version used.
- This feature is still experimental but should work fine in most situations.
