The Open GApps widget (icon) is gray

Android 4.4 Compatibility

Open GApps is not compatible with Android 4.4.

Genymotion is a virtualization platform for running Android devices.

Please use a virtual device with a higher Android version than 4.4.

ADB and Open GApps Guidance

ADB (Android Debug Bridge) is a tool that communicates with Android devices from a computer.

External ADB refers to the ADB included in the Android SDK tools.

Genymotion is a virtualization platform for running Android devices.

Make sure that the Android SDK tools are up to date.

If upgrading the Android SDK tools is not possible, set Genymotion ADB to the built-in adb.

Install the OpenGApps.

Then revert ADB to the previous custom version.

Please check the documentation regarding ADB.

Known Bug

On some rare occasions, the Open GApps widget appears grayed out.

The error message may indicate that the device has not booted yet.

This bug usually occurs when starting a device soon after closing another device.

To resolve this issue, perform the following steps:

1. Stop the device and close Genymotion Desktop.

2. Kill any running adb processes.

3. Kill the player.exe processes.

On Windows, use the Task Manager.

Open Genymotion Desktop and try again.
