Overview
This article provides troubleshooting steps for Windows users who cannot start the virtual device.
1. Reboot your PC
Rebooting the PC after Genymotion Desktop is launched for the first time often fixes this error.
2. Reinstall VirtualBox
If rebooting the PC does not help, you can first try to reinstall VirtualBox.
- Remove VirtualBox from Windows.
- Reboot the PC.
- See VirtualBox recommended versions.
- Download VirtualBox recommended version installer.
- Re-install VirtualBox.
- Launch Genymotion Desktop.
- Do not launch a device yet, or you will get an error.
- Reboot your PC.
- Launch Genymotion and start a device.
3. Fix the VirtualBox host-only network interface
A VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter is a network adapter used by VirtualBox to create a host-only network between the host computer and virtual machines.
- Open Windows Device Manager and go to Network adapters.
- You may see three VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapters and one is disabled.
- Left-click the disabled host-only interface and select Uninstall device.
- You should now have only two VirtualBox Host-Only adapters.
- Left-click the second VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter (usually called VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter #2) and select Update driver.
- Select Browse my computer for drivers.
- Select Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.
- Select the driver called VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter and click Next.
- Close the Device Manager and start Genymotion Desktop.
- If this still does not help, refer to Windows/VirtualBox - An error has occurred while trying to create a virtualbox host-only network interface for other possible solutions.
