I can't install an application/game in Genymotion Desktop
If you get one of the following issue:
- The application does not appear in Google Play Store.
- Google Play Store displays the error "Your device isn't compatible with this version".
- You try to upload an APK file, but it doesn't do anything or you get an error message "INCOMPATIBLE_ABI".
Then, it may not be compatible with Genymotion Desktop.
1. The Android image is rooted
Some apps and games can only be installed and run if the device is not rooted.
To fix this, use an un-rooted Android image.
For more information, refer to this article: Is it possible to un-root or hide root?
2. CPU architecture mismatch
Genymotion Desktop virtual devices architecture is x86/x86_64 on PC and old Mac Intel, and arm64 on Mac M.
If an application is not available in Google Play Store with Genymotion Desktop on PC or Mac Intel, the application/game may be only available for arm64.
In that case, your only options are either to:
- Use Genymotion Desktop on an Apple Mac M computer.
- Use Genymotion SaaS Cloud instead, with an arm64 image.
For more information, refer to How to run applications and games for arm (arm64)?
3. The application/game requires unsupported features
If none of the above helped, it is highly probable that Google Play Store detects the device as an emulator.
To workaround this, try using Aurora Store instead of Google Play Store.
For detailed instructions, refer to this article: How to install and setup Aurora Store on Genymotion?
If the above still fails, it may also mean that the app/game requires one or more features that are not fully emulated yet, such as Bluetooth.
In this case, make sure to always use the latest version of Genymotion Desktop and check out our release notes regularly for new releases.
