Most of the time, this is due to the open-source GPU driver “nouveau” for Nvidia video cards: Genymotion Desktop requires advanced OpenGL extensions which are not properly handled by this driver.
Please use NVIDIA proprietary drivers instead. Depending on your distribution, you can use one of the following guides:
